The Canterbury Tales The Physician

The Physician is described as a highly skilled doctor, who is well-versed in astrology (in medieval times, astrology was considered a necessary skill for physicians), the four humors that govern the body, and how to cure imbalances in the humors. He has a close relationship with several apothecaries; it is implied that he built this relationship via kickbacks, bribes, or some other not-entirely-ethical system. He eats moderately, but dresses well in silk and taffeta. He loves money more than anything else and made a handsome profit off the Black Plague.
